Deep at the centre of my being,

Most relationships come and go with the usual temporary loneliness and hurt feelings at the end. We typically move on and look back and thank ourselves for breaking up something that was just not meant to be. However, every once in a while, the temporary loneliness and hurt feelings isn't so temporary - in short, you miss your ex boyfriend (or girlfriend) and want them back.

The question you need to ask yourself is whether this is a temporary feeling; something you will likely get over, or if this is a feeling you've had for a long time and something that will likely never disappear.

There is the possibility that you're still in love with your ex boyfriend. If that's the case, then the feelings you have may never go away completely. But don't beat yourself up over it, there's nothing wrong with being in love with your ex boyfriend. Even the happiest couples go through ups and downs, and yes some downs result in break ups. In fact, I've seen more good relationships that had temporary break ups than good relationships that did not.

Now, if you don't really love your ex boyfriend, but you just happen to miss him, or miss the things he did or provided for you, then you should let him go and find someone that can give and take the love he deserves and you should do the same. However, if you find yourself truly in love with your ex boyfriend, then you owe it to yourself and to your future happiness to try to reconcile.

You need to identify where he stands in your heart, then either forget about him, or take the next step to winning him back.
